Fiona Foundation For Kids...
The Fiona Foundation for Kids has been set up to care as if she were there. Fiona looked after many children who were in care, sharing her home and love for the moment of time they needed it most. This was either from the day they were born until they were adopted or when their own family could no longer offer them the care that they needed. As a teacher working with young people with special needs she provided the education and inspiration they needed to flourish and reach their true potential. She wanted such help to be available to children everywhere particularly where life was really hard, somewhere where a little help could help mums and children stay together and help themselves. We are here to help make that happen and do what we can to help children across the world.
Fiona Foundation for Kids ensures that our children have enough food, have enough fun and have the chance to stay with their family and thrive, not just survive.
In June 2017 we linked with Tushinde Children’s Trust, a Kenyan based charity run from England that has been providing support for families in Mathare slums of Nairobi for almost ten years. Working with Tushinde we have been running our Fi Day Care Centre since November 2017.
Fi Day Care is the start.... thank you.
Fi Day Care now supports up to 30 families; providing two meals a day and a safe space for babies and pre-school children, thus allowing their parents (usually very young single mothers) to work so they can provide for their families. The mums work is not stable and they stand on the side of the road waiting to be picked up for work to earn approximately £1.20 per day for various domestic chores. They have no other way of earning a living. They wish for their child’s life to be different and are willing to make that happen.
Tushinde is a charity working in the Mathare Slum with over 250 vulnerable children. Tushinde Children’s Trust believes the best place for children to grow up is with their own families… Through social workers, they provide tailored family care and education to children from the poorest families in the Nairobi slums, helping families stay together by sharing the financial burden. Tushinde does this by raising money for the sponsorship of children, supporting schools as well as raising money for specific projects.
How we help....
Fiona Foundation for Kids is supporting Tushinde by fundraising for a second day care unit...Fi Day Care. Running since November 2017, Fi Day Care currently supports 30 families.
